This is a hybrid of the Japanese sardine and the Blackear sardine sardine.
I believe they started appearing about four years ago. It’s been a while since I last saw one.
Today's fishing grounds are in the vicinity of Mikawa Bay in Aichi Prefecture, by the way.
We source fish from all over the country.
